Jennifer J. Smith

Jennifer J. Smith has been making a living by beating Republicans for almost fifteen years.

Prior to being an award-winning national Democratic political consultant, Jennifer was a political staff writer for several Georgia newspapers, including Creative Loafing, Southern Voice and The Atlanta Journal Constitution. Jennifer decided to leave the life of a reporter behind so she could work full time to help get Democrats elected to public office, and with several AAPC Pollie Award and Campaigns and Elections Reed Awards to her credit, Jennifer has developed a national reputation as a consultant who wins in places others wouldn’t tread in.

In 2011, Jennifer served as General Consultant for the Louisiana Democratic House Caucus, and oversaw the reelection of every single Democratic legislator in a tough year – and then went on to pick up five Republican seats. In 2010, Jennifer served as the General Consultant for the Alabama Democratic Party, winning legislative races in a red state in the worst year for Democrats in recent history. Jennifer’s clients have included Congressman Larry Kissell (D-NC), Congressman John Lewis (D-GA), the Suffolk County (NY) Democratic Committee, Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin, Alabama Supreme Court Justice Sue Bell Cobb, the Georgia House and Senate Democratic Caucuses, the Florida Democratic Party, Stephanie Neely for Chicago Treasurer, Chicago Alderman Latasha Thomas, Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer, and many others.

After doing direct mail for six years, Jennifer has brought her strategic and communications talents to television and radio as Senior Vice President at Wild Bunch Media. Jennifer’s goal as a consultant is to help get more women elected to public office. She earned a BA in Political Science from Georgia State University and lives in Fernandina Beach when she’s not skydiving or sailing in warm waters.
